Welcome to the Choral Program at Newtown High School! The NHS Choral Program consists of Freshman Choir, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir and Singers. Each year the program holds a Fall Preview Concert, a Winter Concert, a Spring Choral Concert, the Madrigal Dinner and various performances in the surrounding area.
The choirs of Newtown High School have performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, in Toronto, on a concert tour of Italy (including a special service at St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican in Rome) and on “Travel Today with Peter Greenberg” a nationally syndicated radio show. In 2008, the Singers were selected as an honors ensemble at the Connecticut Music Educators Association’s In-Service Conference where they performed a special concert for the directors around the state.
NHS Musicals produce both a main stage and a black box musical annually and have performed such musicals as, “Showboat,” “How to Succeed in Business...,” “Into the Woods,” “Hello, Dolly!,” “Working,” “110 In The Shade,” and “The Last Five Years.”
